Evacuation Drill 🚨

For our activity in ATLAS, we went over the evacuation procedures in certain circumstances that may cause us to evacuate the building. We talked about dangers that would require us to leave, which were earthquakes and fires. We discussed what to do in each situation to protect ourselves.

Everyone then watched a fire evacuation video that went through a step-by-step process on what to do during a fire. The teachers paused sequences throughout the video going over what was explained, why we do it, and asked questions to check their understanding.

After watching the video, we practiced the stop, drop, and roll method to put out fires on our clothes. We then practiced crawling out of the rooms to simulate there being smoke in the rooms. We exited the building by using the fire escape staircase and explained why we should not try and wait for the elevator.

The school then lined up outside and formed two lines. The teachers took a head count and started discussing where we need to go incase we can not go back inside the building after the emergency.

We walked to the evacuation center at Hinogakuen together as a school. The teachers showed them the two entrances incase we ever had to go there for emergencies.

After returning to the school, we went over the procedures incase of an emergency, how to exit the building, where to go and how to get there. It was a successful evacuation drill as they enjoyed practicing it while going over what to do.

Let's stay safe everyone!
