Today the students worked on drawing natural designs, such as those of flowers. The students were given pictures of flowers and asked to illustrate the flowers that they see.
The students were asked to work using only a wooden 2B or B-type pencil. With this, they can draw the shape, add details, and shade their flowers. They are also asked not to trace but instead draw by hand. They are asked to do this to mimic the art of drawing in nature, or simply drawing what you can see.
These types of drawings help the students with their hand-eye coordination. It can also help them focus their attention on minor details helping to reorient their perspective on natural designs. It also works to improve their artistic ability.
