Fossil Thursday 7/11

This week, we kicked off an exciting new series in our Science class: Fossil Thursdays! Over the next few weeks, our students will embark on a thrilling journey to uncover man-made fossils, learning about the fascinating world of palaeontology in the process.

We began our first session by introducing some key vocabulary, including words like dinosaurs, palaeontology, and fossils. The students were eager to learn and quickly picked up these new terms, setting the stage for their fossil-hunting adventure.

To start, the students familiarized themselves with various fossil displays, examining and discussing their features. Each student then received a rock containing a man-made fossil, carefully moulded to simulate real fossil excavation.

Equipped with hammers and brushes, the students began their dig. With great enthusiasm and curiosity, they chipped away at the rocks, using their brushes to gently uncover the hidden fossils inside. It was wonderful to see their excitement and determination as they revealed the ancient treasures within.

This hands-on activity not only made learning fun but also provided a tangible connection to the subject matter, sparking a deeper interest in science and natural history. We are thrilled to see the students so engaged and look forward to many more exciting discoveries in the weeks to come.
