ATLAS Major Subject - Science, Adaptation

For ATLAS Science class today the students learned about desert adaptations and how certain animals survive in the desert. The students learned about heat avoidance, heat dissipation, water absorption, and water preservation. They learned about desert rodents, lizards, and insects as well.

After learning about these various definitions and examples, the students set off to create their own animal masks based on their favorite desert animal. They colored them and then tied the masks around their face.

Finally, the students using their masks, role-played the animals that they had made the masks for. After that, we discussed the different animals that they created and how they are adapted for the desert.
