Music Square with Tom Bennett
For our activity this week, we had special guests, Tom Bennett and his wife, Ryu who were kind enough to visit us and perform all types of songs that we enjoyed.
Tom played the guitar and Ryu played the violin.
Not only did they play songs that everyone knew, but they educated us about the instruments that they played.
They explained when they started playing instruments and how much practice it takes to get where they now with their skills.
They also answered questions that the students asked about their careers and instruments.
Tom and Ryu played a variety of genres for us. We got to listen to Japanese songs, American songs, and even classical instrumental pieces.
The students lit up when they realized the songs that were being played.
The students were surprised by the types of songs that were able to be played on just two instruments.
They enjoyed every part of their wonderful performance.
Some of the songs that they played were from Totoro and Anpanman.
They even played and sang Country Road.
After each song, the students applauded and waited for the next to begin.
They sat wondering what song was next.
When the performance finally came to a close, all of the students were grateful for Tom and Ryu visiting and giving us a remarkable performance that we will never forget.
We look forward to the next time.
Thank you again Tom and Ryu!
