Making Castles
For the activity this month, the students looked at castles from different countries, learned about their structures, and the purpose for each part of the castles. They compared the castles from the countries like Japan, England, Germany, etc. We went over vocabulary for the basic structures like moats, battlements, drawbridge, etc.
After looking over the information, the students then go into groups to create their own castles out of cardboard and paper. They had to think of a blueprint or layout that they first sketched out by hand. They discussed the design and structure that they wanted. Once they finished making their layout, they were able to start building their castles.

The students were given different tasks to complete for each castle. They used tape and glue to put the pieces together. They colored with markers or colored pencils to add designs.

Each group's castles were unique in design and structure. It was fun to see their creativity be put on display.

Everyone did a great job making their castles. The amount of effort and details really made them standout.
