Major Subject Science: ATLAS Explores Biomimicry!

Nature is the world's oldest and most successful engineer. From the aerodynamic shape of a bird's wing to the way burrs stick to clothing, the natural world offers a masterclass in problem-solving. Recently, our students dived deep into the fascinating field of biomimicry-the practice of looking to nature to find sustainable solutions for human challenges.
From Observation to Design..
The journey began with a simple question: “How would nature solve this?” Students investigated various biological adaptations and how they have already influenced modern technology. We looked at iconic examples, such as how the Shinkansen (bullet train) was redesigned to mimic the kingfisher’s beak to reduce noise and increase speed.
Bringing Ideas to Life Digitally..
After researching their chosen biological inspirations, the students moved to the computers to synthesize their findings. Using digital design tools, they created comprehensive posters that translated complex biological concepts into professional visual formats.
Developing Future Innovators
This activity was more than just a science or tech lesson; it was an exercise in critical thinking and empathy for our environment. By understanding that nature has already solved many of the problems we face today, students learned the value of conservation, observation, and creative problem-solving.
