Tachikawa Atlas Art | TARO OKAMOTO & THE TOWER OF THE SUN

This month's Art theme is Surrealism, and on each Thursday this month we will be studying the life and works of the famous Japanese surrealist artist, Taro Okamoto.

Today student's learned about Taro Okamoto's early art history and some of his most famous works, including his most famous - The Tower of the Sun. We then used photographs of the giant tower to create illustrations in order to explore Okamoto's more simplistic style, tranforming one of his massive sculptures into a small scale illustration using pencils and water colors.
